Production Shift Coordinator-Somerset, KY

UGN, a world class manufacturer of acoustic, interior trim, and thermal management products for the Japanese transplant automotive industry in North America, is seeking a Production Shift Coordinator to join our team in Somerset, Kentucky.

Summary

The Production Shift Coordinator supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in manufacturing environment; plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Ensures the customer’s requirements are met safely and on time.  This position is located at our Somerset, Kentucky plant.

Responsibilities:

  • Confer with management to establish production and quality control standards.
  • Operate within the budget and cost controls to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery of products ordered.
  • Plan and coordinate production activities with all plant departments.
  • Establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Review and analyze all reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, operating or production problems.
  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures through appropriate channels designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Work with Process Engineering on equipment modifications in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Perform as key member of BAMA, TPS, and TPM activities.
  • Oversee Maintenance, Quality and Materials on the off-shifts as needed.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve production data.
  • Participate in production when personnel shortages or production challenges occur.
  • Overnight travel to customer location may be required to support product related quality issues.
  • Directly supervises team members per shift in the department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of Team Members. Monitors daily activities of Maintenance, Quality and Shipping personnel on the shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training of team members; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; coaching Team Members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications:

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; and two plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Summary

The Human Resources Assistant performs various administrative and clerical duties to assist the Human Resources Manager and other staff in operating the Human Resources Department. This posision is located at our plant in Somerset, KY.  

 Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain employee database information; create, update and maintain employee personnel files.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, conduct new employee orientations, and assist in other employment activities.  Assist in processing all job bid transactions and scheduling pre employment activities.
  • Respond to management and employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.
  • Respond to outside employment inquiries providing information to authorized persons in accordance with company policies.
  • May compute Office Hourly/Salary payroll information and transmit to Payroll Department.

Payroll Manager-Tinley Park, IL

UGN, a world class manufacturer of acoustic, interior trim, and thermal management products for the Japanese transplant automotive industry in North America, is seeking a Payroll Manager to join our team in Tinley Park, IL.

Summary

The Payroll Manager supervises and coordinates payroll activities and compiles payroll data to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll throughout UGN.  Maintains payroll and time records as required by law.  Ensures that all payroll policies are administered in accordance with IRS and Department of Labor guidelines. Processes weekly and bi-weekly payrolls using ADP PCPW Version 6.5 and creates reporting from Reportsmith.  Responsible for administration of electronic time keeping system for full time and temporary team members.   This position is located at our headquarters in Tinley Park, IL.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily duties while multi-tasking, being flexible in accepting and handling special requests, and being detail-oriented in all aspects of the payroll function.
  • Maintain the set-up of the payroll system, including master controls, codes, accumulators, and reports.
  • Verify input of all new hire, termination, job title, pay rate, and Team Member demographic changes into NuView and ADP systems via plant and corporate human resources departments.
  • Work with Human Resources and Information Systems to set-up and maintain accurate system interfaces between NuView, ADP and UGN ERP System (Oracle/HRIS fusion in 2015).
  • Create ReportSmith reports for on-going weekly and periodic needs as well as special report requests. 
  • Accumulate, transmit and process payroll batches for all weekly and biweekly Team Members in accordance with UGN pay policies.  Download custom general ledger from ADP each pay cycle and save it in Accounting’s network folder. 
  • Coordinate the processing of all special and/or non-recurring payroll transactions, including relocation entries, special awards, yearend consideration, and any other special payrolls that may be requested.
  • Set up and maintain the TimeSaver biometric clock system; ensure that TimeSaver work rules match and interface with the Company’s most current payroll policies/systems.    Update the system for holiday codes, new departments or job titles, and schedules of team members.  Contact ADP for any issues with the clock system.
  • Understand and apply appropriate action on garnishments, tax levies, default student loans, child supports and Illinois wage assignments.  
  • Set-up, maintain and coordinate all benefit deductions with Corporate HR department, including annual benefit re-enrollment elections and scheduled reporting to benefit plan administrators.
  • Prepare, verify and timely transmit all 401(k) information for all Team Member withholding, loan repayment, employer match, quarterly flat contributions and annual profit sharing contributions.
  • Set-up and maintain all NuView/ADP-based paid time off tracking for all non-exempt Team Members using the ADP benefit accrual program.
  • Coordinate preparation and filing of mandatory reports with taxing authorities and governmental agencies.  Assist with all audits involving payroll information requests. 
  • Maintain professional and collegial relationships with all Plant Managers, HR Managers and Plant Controllers.
  • Ensure all pay practices are in compliance with IRS and state/local taxing authority regulations.  Process payroll with knowledge of pre-tax and taxable earnings and deductions. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely processing of year-end W-2 forms for all Team Members.  Perform quarterly reconciliation of wage and tax registers compared to weekly tracking and year to date Master Control data. 
  • Perform special projects and produce informational reports as requested by immediate supervisor.  Generate periodic reports for Kentucky Kreda requirements, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Tennessee tax credit agreements.
  • Directly supervises one Team Member in the Payroll Department. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university; and/or five plus years of relevant payroll management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, governmental regulations and compensation policies. Ability to effectively communicate in both spoken and written word, including voicemail, e-mail, business letters, internal memos and presentations to senior management.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as gross pay, tax deductions, garnishments, 401(k) match contributions and other basic algebra and geometry applications.  Must possess expert-level knowledge of ADP payroll applications in order to effectively use and teach plant payroll processors.  Must understand basic interfaces from HRIS and to general ledger.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Must maintain composure and professionalism when trouble-shooting and dealing with change.
  • Intermediate level proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and Office Outlook.
  • Must possess expert-level knowledge of ADP payroll applications in order to effectively use and teach plant payroll processors.  Must understand basic interfaces from HRIS and to general ledger.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the gross-to-net payroll calculation, including pre/post tax benefit deductions, gross-ups, and compliance with Federal, State and Local taxing authorities.  Understanding of payroll in a manufacturing environment is also essential.

Summary

Responsibilities:
  • Incorporate input from acoustics, research and development, validation, and process into the design selection and make the technical decisions about how best to proceed with product development.

Team Leader-Somerset, KY

Summary

The Team Leader coordinates with other work cells and departments to meet production requirements of the company and needs of the customers, with accountability for results in terms of cost, methods, quality, quantity of production, operations and personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn and assist in developing team members in all TPS principles.
  • Walk through the department with the previous team leader to address concerns with the set up of the cells, housekeeping, and any manufacturing concerns that may have occurred during the previous shift.
  • Review all schedule needs daily.
  • Audit the cells to determine if raw materials, equipment, or a change over is required to ensure efficient start-ups.
  • Conduct meetings with team members at the beginning of each shift to communicate problems and concerns.
  • Insure all paperwork required by the team members is available.
  • Address team member concerns.
  • Monitor manning needs and work with the Shift Coordinator to schedule coverage and training.
  • Ensure 5-S activities are being performed and address if needed.
  • Reassign team members when needed when downtime occurs.
  • Monitor scrap, waste, quality and production.
  • Hold bi-weekly team meetings to develop improvement plans. Follow up accordingly.
  • Assist in the training of all team members. Ensure training documents are complete and update all skill training matrix forms.
  • Develop standard work procedures with the cell team members and ensure adherence to the standards.
  • Rotate into the Pit Team as a Pit Team Member for at least 4 to 6 months to be able to lead and develop Kaizen teams. Team Member to learn process design and problem solving as outlined in the Pit Team Member job description.
  • Ensure Job and Standard Work instructions are correct and in place.
  • Conduct monthly audits with Shift Coordinator of cell job instructions, 5-S procedures, standard work instructions, and product alerts. Revise as needed.
  • Train team members and manage rotation of team members.
  • Ensure all daily paperwork is accurate, complete and ready to process.
  • Represent UGN at customer locations when quality concerns are presented.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises work of Production Operators in the Production Department. Participate in new team member interviews, orientation and training.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Maintenance Technician II-Somerset, KY

Summary

The Maintenance Technician II meets requirements of a Maintenance Technician I. Maintains production and facilities equipment by performing preventive, predictive, project and reactive maintenance services on all UGN machines and equipment as required by individual plant configurations.

Responsibilities:

Some variations may occur due to individual plant configurations. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Provide maintenance function Preventive, Predictive, Project & Reactive
  2. Communicate required supply of essential spare parts
  3. Maintain production and facilities equipment manuals library relating to facility
  4. Maintain up to date equipment history
  5. Maintain training level to perform adequate maintenance performance 

Mechanical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Proteus computerized maintenance management system for work scheduling, obtaining location and reorder of replacement spare parts and recording work performed for equipment history.
  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and use your senses and devices to identify the need for repair maintenance. Collaborate with maintenance staff as needed for correct diagnosis and repair of machines.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  •  Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and
  • Detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair.
  •  Dismantle equipment to gain access to remove adjust or replace consumable  components, or install new or repaired parts in defective machine and/or equipment.
  •  Test, diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, pipe system, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment as required by plant location.
  •  Set up and operate testing devices, welders, drill press, grinders, oxy fuel and propane torches, saws and other tools to make and repair parts of machines and equipment.
  •  Clean and maintain HVAC and air compressor coils. 
  •  Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery. Upon discovery of damaged components replacement may be necessary.
  •  Clean, lubricate & adjust equipment per scheduled maintenance protocols.
  •  Inspect, clean, lubricate, and repair truck loading dock plates to maintain in operational order.
  •  Replace electric motor bearings and rewire motors.
  •  Repair and maintain production facility.

 Facilities Electrical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of facilities equipment including re-securing contact terminations.
  •  Inspect and test equipment such as transformers, motors, controls, lighting fixtures, wiring and component parts.
  •  Inspect and repair or replace faulty electrical components such as printed circuit boards.

Facilities Professional Responsibilities:

  • Communicate task completed to team leaders and supervisors before leaving the area. 
  • Communicate faulty conditions found during equipment evaluations to Maintenance Coordinator and Technicians for follow up repair or replacement beyond your experience level.

 Qualifications:

  • Associate degree from a college or technical school; and twelve months related experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions,  procedure and equipment manuals.   Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Knowledge of Office applications such as Word, Excel. And Internet software.
  • May be required to have/obtain licenses to operate powered industrial trucks, boom lifts, scissor lifts, or other types of equipment used to facilitate equipment repairs and accessibility.
